Following demolition of the Faraday Building, access to USAIS (Building 19) and parking arrangements remain as they have been for the past year.  Parking is outside of Building 28 and accessed via the one-way system from University Road.

General information about parking and how to find spaces

You can park for up to two hours on Granby Gove and Hartley Avenue and reach building 19 through the entrance on this side of the campus by Buildings 23 and 25.  Note that Building 21 (as shown on the map) has now been demolished.  From Granby Grove or Hartley Avenue, walk through the University entrance and turn right towards Building 19.

For longer appointments the best option is to enter via University Road and park in the designated ISVR Patient parking spaces.  You may also find spaces down the ramp next to Building 19.

If you have a disabled parking badge please use the disabled bays around the designated ISVR Patient parking spaces.  Please display your own disabled parking badge.

You can park in any space on the University provided it is not labelled for another user.

If you have parked on the University site please come straight to Reception in Building 19 and enter your your registration number onto the tablet.  

How to find the ISVR parking spaces

  1. Best access to the ISVR parking spaces is from University Road.  If you have come from Burgess Road and driven along University Road, tTurn left after the 3rd pelican crossing and head towards the building with the grey corner.  Turn left before this building. (If you have come from Portswood turn right into the University site just after the Student Hub)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. After you have turned left, Building 28 is ahead of you.  ISVR Patient parking spaces are labelled and can be found outside of Building 28.  Drive towards the building and turn right (see images and map with directions below).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. There is a short walk from the parking spaces.  Look for the footpath alongside the end of Building 28.  Follow the path and turn left so that you are facing the green.  Walk a short way and then turn right and walk along the edge of the green towards Building 7.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. As you walk towards Building 7, look for the blue USAIS sign on the pillar in front of you.  Turn right at the pillar then left at the next blue sign.

If you have arrived by bus (“Interchange” on the map) you can walk to Building 19 which is on the other side of the campus

Hartley Library

1: From the bus station, go to the pelican crossing and cross to the other side of University Road. From the pelican crossing outside the Hartley Library. Look for directions to the ISVR.

Building 5 9 and 7

2: With the Library on your right, walk past Buildings 5, 9 and 7.

Travelling by rail or bus to the University

Fast trains from London and Bournemouth/Weymouth stop at Winchester, Southampton Central and Southampton Airport Parkway. Trains from Portsmouth and Bristol/South Wales stop at Southampton Central. The University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service is based in Building 19 on the Highfield Campus of the University of Southampton. 

From the M3 – exit at junction 14, following signs for Southampton (A33). Follow the A33 into Bassett Avenue and follow the signs to University Campuses (Highfield Site).

From the M27 (west or east) – leave the M27 at junction 5 (Southampton Airport) and take the A335 following the signs to University campuses (Highfield Site).  You will need to take a right on to Burgess Road as the road forks (by McDonalds). When you reach the Campus (at the traffic lights at the junction with University Road).

When you reach the Campus drive down University Road. Hartley Library will be on the left. Turn left after the Hartley Library and the pelican crossing, then first left after Building 34. You will see a tall building with a blue/grey corner with round concrete bollards in front of it.  Follow the one-way system (past Building 28) – see temporary changes to patient parking – until you come to the crossroads, go straight on and you will see Building 19 ahead of you on the right and the parking spaces on the left outside Tizard (Building 13).  These spaces are labelled ISVR Patient.

Disabled parking

There are marked bays across the campus for disabled badge holders.  You will need to display your disabled permit and log into the tablet in Reception of Building 19.

Visitor parking

There is a pay and display car park on Highfield Campus, which is near Buildings 1 and 16. Please note that it can fill up very quickly during the morning. 

There is also a Visitors Car Park – shown as “Pre-booked parking” on the map.  You may only park here if you have received confirmation from a member of staff that they have booked you a space.

Note that parking restrictions on site will result in owners of cars parked incorrectly, receiving a parking fine.
